“Winter Bomb 2018” Is Expected To Hit Nova Scotia, Early Thursday Morning

With the approach of a low pressure system, Authorities are warning of storm force winds, heavy snowfall, and storm surge.  Having been given the nick name, “Winter Bomb 2018”, by American Meteorologists, this storm is expected to pack quite a punch, when it arrives.   Snowfall amounts of up to 15 – 25 centimeters are expected to fall, over the region, in the next 24 to 36 hours.

 

Here is the forecast for Halifax, and Halifax County West, For the week of Wednesday, January, 3rd, through until Tuesday, January, 9th, 2018. Tonight, Partly cloudy. Becoming cloudy overnight. Wind becoming south 20 km/h overnight. Temperature rising to zero by morning.
Thu, 4 Jan Cloudy. Snow at times heavy mixed with ice pellets beginning in the morning then changing to rain at times heavy late in the afternoon. Risk of freezing rain late in the morning. Rain along parts of the coast in the afternoon. Blowing snow over exposed areas late in the morning and early afternoon. Snow and ice pellet amount 10 to 20 cm except rainfall amount 25 mm along the coast. Wind east 30 km/h gusting to 50 increasing to 70 gusting to 100 except gusting to 120 along parts of the coast in the afternoon. High plus 3 except temperature steady near plus 1 inland.
Night Rain at times heavy changing to a few rain showers late in the evening then to flurries overnight. Rainfall amount 10 to 20 mm. Wind southeast 50 km/h gusting to 80 becoming south 80 gusting to 110 except gusting to 140 along parts of the coast late in the evening and overnight. Wind becoming southwest 60 gusting to 90 before morning. Temperature rising to 7 in the evening then falling.
