SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT ISSUED

Rain, at times heavy, is expected Friday. Total rainfall: 30 to 45 mm. Locally higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Locations: most areas of mainland Nova Scotia. Time span: Friday morning until Saturday morning. Remarks: A trough of low pressure approaching the Maritimes from New England on Friday will bring periods of heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms to the southwestern Atlantic coast beginning Friday morning, spreading to eastern areas by Friday evening. There remains uncertainty in where the heaviest rain will fall, but warnings may be issued as this event draws closer. Similar storms in the past have caused hazardous driving conditions, pooling of water on roadways, and localized flooding in low lying areas. Be sure storm drains and gutters are cleared of debris. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NSstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #NSStorm.
